Day 11: March 31, 2024
Our final day in Paris and the sun stayed with us for most of the day... We drove in our coach down towards the Arc de Triomphe where we had some photo time while our guide arrived. Easter Sunday meant the traffic was non-existent which was amazing!!
Desiree the guide was fabulous... took us to see just about everything major there was to see in Paris...
We had a stop to take lots of pictures at the Eiffel Tower, most of the bus coming back laden with mini Eiffel towers!!
We had some time in the Luxembourg Gardens to enjoy some greenery and a coffee and crepe.. before we finished the tour at the Louvre.
We had 3 hours break now to enjoy some lunch and tackle the vast gallery/museum that is the Louvre... being Easter Sunday it was incredibly busy inside and very hot but I think everyone managed at least to see the Mona Lisa!!
After we all met back up again in the Tuilerie Gardens, we walked along the river to our boat cruise... unfortunately the skies decided to open en route the thunder crashed and lightening lit up the skies!! It was a very dramatic if somewhat wet 10 minute walk!!
The boat nearly was cancelled but Emma persuaded the crew that the Canadian group was made of stern stuff and would not be put off by a bit of wet weather!
We had an enjoyable hours cruise up and down the Seine, by the end of which the skies had cleared again.
Our last meal was a short metro ride away to Flamms where we ate delicious flammekuechen ... pizza type things from the north east Alsace region of France. Everyone really enjoyed them, and the fact that they just kept on coming!!
After dinner we rode the metro back to the hotel... tired for sure but also very happy.
