Weather was less kind to us this morning with a pretty cold windy day to start us off. Undeterred tho, we spent the morning with Ian our local Edinburgh guide, who took us for a bracing walk up Carlton Hill after touring the Newtown with all it's 'modern' Georgian architecture dating from the 1700's. We detoured to Leith to see the Royal Yacht Britannia, bit smaller in the flesh than in the mind's eye... and then crossed to the old town to take in Holyrood Palace, the Royal Mile, Greyfriars Bobby (little dog) the Grassmarket for some ghoulish stories and then up to the Castle. The rain really started coming down as we said good bye to Ian and took ourselves into the castle for a self guided visit. After lunch, we split up for free time... some to climb the Scott Memorial, some for more shopping, and some to explore the National museum. Dinner was a little disappointing tonight... a tasty steak and ale pie, but only enough food for a toddler... so when we got back to the hotel, Emma ordered a stack of pizzas for everyone to make sure everyone was full before bed! Matt Jaxon Will and Hojune all joined us for pizza in their newly acquired highland dress! Lots of games to play here in the Moxy hotel so everyone played uno, pool, table football etc and had a lovely chilled evening.
