Day 10: March 30, 2024
So today we were up early again... checking out and on our way to St Pancras and the EuroStar. It was super busy being Easter Saturday, but we all made it thru the airport style check in and collected a stamp in our passports as the french customs is in the London station!
The train ride was easy... 30 mins was in the tunnel, 75 m under the sea bed and the other 2 hours spent mostly on the french side getting from the coast to Paris.
There we were collected and transferred to our final hotel... on the west side of Paris with lovely views straight down the Champs Elysee to the Arc de Triomphe and of the Eiffel tower!.
We took the metro into the city... all pretty cool with tube riding now... and started our city walk with Emma at the Hotel de Ville... base camp of the Lord Mayor of Paris. We walked on to the Ile de la Cité crossing the river Seine taking in the views of the Conciergerie, the Tribunal de Commerce and the Hotel Dieu Hospital before arriving in front of Notre Dame Cathedral.
We crossed the Petit Pont and entered the Latin Quarter where we broke for some free time to shop before dinner.
Meeting at the Fountain St Michel a flash mob formed with the girls throwing some great shapes to the music!
After dinner we headed back to the Hotel de Ville, only to find the man with the music was there again and the girls all threw themselves into formation dancing again while surrounded by appreciative crowds!! Was great fun!!
Riding the metro back home, as we came out the tube there was fabulous views of the Eiffel tower all illuminated!
A really great first day in Paris!
