Rome & Sicily

Back on land! We arrived at the port of Palermo, greeted by stunning views of the city from the sea. Our new driver, Luigi, was waiting for us and brought us straight to Teatro Massimo in the city center, where our guide Laura joined us. With Laura, we explored some of Palermo’s hidden gems. One of the most incredible highlights was Monreale Cathedral, the stunning 12th-century Norman cathedral, famous for its golden mosaics. We continued our walk through the city, guided by Laura’s explanations. After the tour, we visited a vibrant local food market, full of small stalls offering traditional Sicilian specialties. Some of us indulged in the famous cannoli made by the nuns of La Martorana—absolutely delicious! We then had a few hours of free time to stroll through the city and soak in its unique charm. In the afternoon, we took the bus to our next destination: Agrigento! There, our hotel welcomed us with a nice traditional Sicilian dinner: Pasta alla Norma with tomato and fried eggplant, followed by herbed roasted meat and creamy “bigné”. Delicious!
