Day 7: June 15, 2025
Buenos días Barcelona!
A day in Barcelona could possibly include a number of very different things: from visiting Gothic churches to wondering at Gaudi's Modernist buildings to sunbathing and swimming at the beach, without excluding great food, souvenir shopping, people-watching at the incredible Las Ramblas de Cataluña and many more things. And of course, that's what we did!
While some went more "cultural" and visited the Gothic Quarter and walked down the mile-long Ramblas de Cataluña, others, especially the young crowd, went to the beach. The sun is good to synthetize vitamin D, they say. Truth is you can also overdo it, and perhaps that's what happened to some of our students who, despite the sunscreen, turned a bit red by the end of the morning: red but happy.
In the afternoon we met Francesc, our local guide, who took us on an amazing trip around Barcelona that included the Parc Guell, the Sagrada Familia and Montjuïc. Difficult not to fall in love with this city after such a visit.
To top it up, and to finish our trip on a very high note, we had amazing seafood paella for our last dinner. Some were shocked that the (big) prawns had their full heads on (eyes and all), but those who showed courage, peeled them and ate them, surely had a great sense of achievement, and enjoyed the taste.
