Day 3: April 13, 2019
We were up and breakfasted, then out on the road to central London. It was a bright sunny morning. We met our London guide, Liz, outside The Natural History Museum. She took us directly to Buckingham Palace, we were able to walk right up to the railings and see some of the guards, on duty, in the pillar box red uniforms. We then walked through St James’s Park and on to Parliament Square, with Westminster Abbey & The Houses Of Parliament. We then drove through Trafalgar Square and around Piccadilly Circus, as well as along Shaftesbury Avenue, the heart of Theatreland. We then drove in to the City Of London, and viewed the famous landmark of St Paul’s cathedral. We crossed over the River Thames & we saw Tower Bridge and the Tower Of London. We returned to Trafalgar Square, where we bid our goodbyes to our guide, before going to find some lunch. After lunch, we rode the tube to South Kensington, to visit The Museums.
Some of the group visited the Natural History Museum, some, the Victoria & Albert and a few went to the Science museum. Afterwards, some went to visit Harrods store, where, reportedly, you can buy anything!
We then took the tube to the east of the city, to go for a typical English meal of Bangers & Mash. Our restaurant was close to the imposing Tower Of London, sitting on the banks of the Thames.
After dinner, we walked down to the river and saw Tower Bridge.
We then went to do a guided Jack The Ripper walk around the East End, before returning to our hotel.
Tomorrow we head out in to the English countryside, to visit Stonehenge, over 5000 years old!
