London, the Countryside & Edinburgh

April 11, 2019  -  April 20, 2019

We were up, had our breakfast, then loaded our luggage and started on our journey northwards. We drove through Yorkshire and in to County Durham, then through Tyne and Wear, on to Northumberland. The weather was bright and sunny. We arrived in good time for our visit to Alnwick castle, used in the Harry Potter films and the Downton Abbey series. We had time to explore and find something for lunch. We then headed onwards, over the border in to Scotland and on to the capital, Edinburgh. We walked along the Royal Mile and had some time to explore. We went to get dinner and then walked to Calton Hill, with great views over the city. We then returned to our hotel. Tomorrow we get to know the city better with a guided tour and a visit to the castle.
