Day 6: April 16, 2019
We had a bit of a lie in this morning as our first visit of the day was close by our hotel.
We boarded our coach and we were soon at Anne Hathaway’s cottage, in Shottery. It sits in a typical English country garden setting. It is a thatched dwelling and we had a guided tour before exploring the gardens. We then drove, a short distance, in to Stratford upon Avon, to visit William Shakespeare’s birthplace. We then had time to have some lunch and explore the Bard’s home town. Some walked down to the river and along the riverbank to Holy Trinity Church, to visit Shakespeare’s grave.
We all met up again and drove to Warwick, to spend the afternoon exploring the impressive castle.
We then drove back to our hotel.
Tomorrow we head north to York.
