Day 8: June 25, 2025
Today marked the end of our journey in Paris. Some groups returned home to the US, while the rest of us continued on to Switzerland for the final leg of our trip. Our first stop was Basel, considered to be the cultural capital of Switzerland. We visited the Basel Minster, a heritage site of national significance, the Market Square and the Middle Bridge, which crosses the River Rhine. Here we learned about the locals' curious tradition of putting their clothes in inflatable bags and floating down the river on its gentle current through the picturesque Old Town. In the evening, we checked into our hotel on the stunning Lake Thun surrounded by Swiss mountains. We had a traditional Swiss dinner and enjoyed the views of the sunset from the restaurant's terrace.
