< previousDay 7: June 17, 2018
It's the last day of the tour and we're headed back into Manhattan on a Sunday.
Although the traffic is lighter, there's still no lack of people filling the streets and cars on the road. Today, we're headed in to get a broader sense of Central Park and, perhaps, experience more of what the Park has to offer. Walking through, we start at the Dakota where John Lennon was assassinated in 1980, then move on to Strawberry Field, the section that was dedicated to him and his vision of peace. We passed by Cherry Hill, the Bow Bridge and came to Bethesda Terrace and Bethesda Fountain. While there, we enjoyed singers at the Bethesda Terrace, and the Bubble Man creating giant-sized bubbles. He even encapsulated Max in one! As we continued our walk through, we came to the Hans Christian Anderson statue, the Conservatory Water, and the Alice in Wonderland statue.
We needed to be sure to arrive on-time for our tour of Radio City Music Hall, so David picked us up and delivered us to Rockefeller Center, and we had time to explore a little while making sure we each found some lunch.
The tour of Radio City Music Hall meant the group breaking up into two smaller groups. Either way, though, the tour was absolutely amazing. Our guide(s) told us about the history of the theater, showed us the beautiful art deco styling of it, and how, when it was renovated, they stayed loyal to it's original decor and furnishings. It was one of the highlights of the tour! And what better a note to end on than that!
Amazingly, the drive to the airport from Manhattan was jam-packed with traffic, but eventually, it cleared up and we arrived at Newark safe and sound with plenty of time to spare.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. They was a true joy to spend time with.
Have a wonderful summer!
