Our day started out by driving over to Liberty State Park in New Jersey. What awaited us there was the ferry cruise we would take over to Ellis and Liberty Islands. It was a wonderful day to be on the ferry and our first stop was Ellis Island. The group took good advantage of the audio tour sets included and explored the Ellis Island facility as best they could. Then, after discovering Ellis for over an hour, we took the next ferry over to Liberty Island to stand in the glory of the Statue of Liberty. Man! Is she big! Once the group took their pictures of her, we boarded the ferry to head over to Manhattan. We landed in Battery Park. There, we strolled around the East Coast Memorial to those military members lost in the Atlantic during World Wars I & II. By the, though, it was time for lunch. So, off we went to Zuccotti Park, origin of the Occupy Wall Street movement. The group found all sorts of different offerings to choose from: Food trucks, pizza-by-the-slice, gyros, LOTS! And, it was right next to the 9/11 Memorial. Walking around the memorial was very moving, remembering what had happened there. On a little lighter note, we found David and he took us to Times Square, for some (more) festive time before our dinner reservation and then showtime at the Majestic Theater and "Phantom of the Opera". Wow, the lights and signs of Times Square are spectacular. And some, (surprise!) took part in a little retail therapy! Dinner was fantastic at Chevy's Fresh Mex and the Mariachi band made the meal even better! Then! It was finally time to go to the theater. The producation was unbelievable. The group came out raving about the show, loving the music, and ooing over the various effects in the show. Another long, full day completed and what a wonderful day it was! Headed back to the hotel!
