< previousDay 3: May 24, 2012
Our last breakfast here was just as good as yesterdays, as we checked out of the hotel and headed to visit Carlo's Bakery, made famous because of the show "Cake Boss". It took us a while to get there but once there we realized that the rainy weather seemed to have kept most folks away, so we had almost no wait to get in and buy some cakes, lobster rolls, and cannolis, as well as picking up some t-shirts to prove we were there. Then it was off to Manhattan where we managed to get in some last second souvenir shopping in the pouring rain. Our next stop was up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where we had a little bit of time to explore some of there world-class collections, such as the Temple of Dendur, and the fairly new american Wing. Our last stop before heading to the airport was on Fifth Ave., at FAO Schwarz, the worlds largest toy store they say. Its where Tom Hanks played on the giant piano in the movie Big. As the rain came down, we fought the traffice to get out to Laguardia to catch our flight back home. Despite some of us being a little nervous about making the flight, everything worked out and we said goodbye. Hopefully you'll return here or one of the many other cities to travel with me one day soon.
