Day 6: March 27, 2025
What a day (again)!
After a very pleasant breakfast it was onto the Metro and RER (double-decker train - underground!) and to Place de L'Opera (Phantom style) to meet Edit, our guide. Despite awful traffic (there were lots of heads of state in town, including Ukraine's Zelinskyy) we got a fair look around this beautiful capital.
At the end, after time for a relaxed lunch, most (OK, basically the girls) had a tour of the Fragonard perfumery before heading back to the hotel for a freshen up and sprucing up (again, the girls!) and out to dinner at Montmartre's La Poutre where an old friend of mine, Ali, served up delicious Escalope of chicken in cream sauce with perfect fries followed by the most delicious Tarte au Pomme (apple pie!).
Then it was up to Montmartre proper to experience the old city of light made famous by many 19th century painters but now a wonderful city of lights where you could barely turn a corner without thinking of van Gogh or some other luminary. Or eat a crepe. Have I mentioned crepes before at all?
And back to the hotel for the penultimate sleep of the tour.
