Paris, City of Light

This morning we headed to the SW of Paris and waited in the long line to reach the summit of the Eiffel Tower. It was definitely worth it when we reached the top and could look out all over the Parisian skyline and beyond. We spotted Notre Dame, the Opera House and Montmartre. We then headed into the town centre to have lunch in the many cafés around the Palais Royal. Then it was more lining up to enter the world's largest art collection, the Louvre. The Mona Lisa was a must see for many people, from all over the world! Some of us went to look at sculpture, some visited Napoleon's apartments, and others visited their favourite artists. We exited via the Jardin des Tuileries, looking up the axis through the Carrousel arch, the Egyptian obelisk and Concorde and up to the Arc de Triomphe. Some photos stops at the glass pyramid, then we walked down to Les Halles for our savoury galette and salted caramel crêpe in a typical Breton restaurant. Some people still had energy to go for a walk after dinner, but most people hopped on the metro to rest their weary legs and prepare for our final day tomorrow.
