Dublin & the United Kingdom

We started off early to travel into London by coach, which took some time as the population of England’s capital city is 9 million people! We met the guide by the Natural History Museum and drove through Piccadilly Circus before stepping off to explore Parliament Square. Nearby lies the impressive Westminster Abbey, Big Ben clock tower and Houses of Parliament. We travelled along the Strand past numerous historic buildings to St Paul’s Cathedral where we stepped off again to have a walk around the 17th century cathedral and partway across the Millenium Bridge to see the city from above the River Thames. After grabbing some food to eat on the journey, we travelled to nearby Windsor, which has been the longest occupied royal residence and dates back in parts to the 11th century. One of the official residences of the monarchy, Windsor Castle is an impressive structure steeped in history. The coach then headed back to the nearest underground and then a long tube journey to Piccadilly Circus to get to our restaurant in nearby Soho. After dinner some of the group stayed in London a bit longer and others headed back ahead of tomorrow’s flights home.
