Today We are travelling by in Space as heading back to Belgium in Flanders but also travelling back in Time as todays topic is all about WWI Starting with In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres theatre of a dramatic battle series costing the allies about a million casulaties … Theee major battles in October 1914, April 1915 and July 1917 All of them Will be showcasing the WWI’s révolutions 1914: The apparition of a new War strategy : War of position - exhaustion: basically taking position until the enemy gets exhausted and run of supplies - birth of trenches 1915: Apparition of the first chemical weapons with the mustard gaz WWI was indeed the first World War but also first tanks, machine guns, submarines…And even pigeons to deliver messages Then free Time in Ypres to enjoy this week end festival before heading to the Talbot House - Men’s club where soldiers were able to cut from to front Line horrors and find a bit of reconfort before getting back to the battlefield A stop at The Brooding Soldier one of the 8 Canadian Memorial abroad before heading the Passendale Memorial Park and Musuem Great way to discover the trenches, underground set up… and todays commeration for the 8 countries involved in the battle. Dinner Time to try the famous Belgian fries before the Commémoration Ceremony at 8pm and head back to the the hôtel in France after another good and Sunny Day
