We started our morning with a guided walking tour of the Marais district. Paris sightseeing is usual by bus but due to the Olympics, we can only go around by foot! It’s quite an exciting time to be in the city. Our guides, Veronique and Madeline, explained the importance of this historic district which dates back to the 17th century (but now now filled with hip boutiques and galleries). We ended the tour in front of Hotel de Ville and made a short walk over to the Notre Dame Cathedral, which is set to open later this year! From here, we broke off for free time and lunch. Some of tried delicious food, such as escargots, mussels, crepes, quiches, and of course, pastries! With our bellies full, we took the metro over to the Eiffel Tower and enjoyed a peaceful cruise along the Seine river. But our day was not over yet! We then took the metro back to the Lafayette Galleries for an earlier dinner (we had croque monsieur!) so that we could make in time for our evening reservation at the Louvre. The Louvre is incredibly big but there’s one piece of art that no one missed, Mona Lisa, of course! It was a jam-packed day but an exciting one nonetheless. Au revoir Paris!
