Day 3: June 19, 2024
“If you're curious, London's an amazing place.” – David Bailey
This morning, we ditched the tube for a coach bus and drove towards London Central with driver, Hasan. We picked up Phil, our local tour guide for the day, who took us straight to Buckingham Palace. We saw the changing of the guards! He also showed us the most important sites such as the west end (the entertainment area), Westminster, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the Big Ben.
We grabbed lunch like locals at Borough Market and then took a lovely walk along the Thames River towards the Tate Modern Museum, another cool (and free) museum featuring contemporary art! We took group shots under the London Eye and then headed to dinner nearby.
Dinner was at the Polish restaurant, Mamuska, where we were treated to polish sausage, mash potatoes and a salad bar. The United Kingdom is home to one of the largest populations of polish people outside of Poland, so it was a cool opportunity to immerse ourselves in Polish cuisine
Now, it was time to go Back to The Future and Six! — what fun musicals that got us all on our feet by the end! In true London style, there were some delays on the tube during our commute back to the hotel, but that meant riding a double-decker bus for a few of us! We’re true locals now.
We're sad to be leaving London so soon, but we know we'll be back. EU, we’re ready for you!
