Day 12: June 28, 2024
Rome was certainly not built in a day…
Unfortunately, today did not go as planned! Due to issues with bus permits, we missed our Vatican booking but tried to make the best of waiting in line. Our local guides, Letizia and Maria, stayed with us to explain the history and architecture of the Vatican and what we’ll be seeing once inside.
It was a hot day, so we took turns getting gelato and water to stay hydrated! After the vatican visit, we walked over the river to Piazza Navona to try some Tartufo, a frozen summer dessert made with scoop of ice cream, an amaretto cherry, and rolled in chocolate crumbs. We highly recommend this sweet method of staying “hydrated”!
Dinner was in the cool neighbourhood known as Trastevere. We were treated to delicious pasta with tiramisu to finish.
Thanks again everyone for being so patient and adaptable today – travelling can be challenging at times but if we continue with the good energy, we’ll enjoy the journey!
