Madrid
Hey everyone! Just wanted to brag about our AMAZING day in Madrid!
We bid farewell to our North Carolina crew last night after that epic seafood paella (still dreaming about it!). Woke up this morning practically vibrating with excitement - high-speed train to Madrid, here we come!
The ride was a breeze - comfy seats, smooth tracks, and zero stress getting our luggage on board. We hopped off the train in Madrid and took a bus to our hotel. Check-in was a dream - friendly staff and early access to our rooms? Yes, please! After a quick freshen up, we dove into the metro. Clean, fast, and whisked us right downtown in 20 minutes flat. Stepping out of the Sol station and seeing the Madrid sky was pretty awesome.
A leisurely stroll through the city center followed, and guess what? We all found fantastic restaurants for a relaxing lunch amidst the downtown buzz. Then it was on to the Reina Sofia museum - holy moly, what a building! An old hospital turned into a contemporary art haven? Mind. Blown. La Guernika was something else, too - a truly powerful piece.
The Spanish sun was out in full force, but we tackled it like champs and made it all the way to the Plaza Mayor. And guess what? Practically deserted! What a treat to see this iconic square without the usual crowds. After that, we refueled with a delicious buffet dinner - gotta keep those energy levels up!
By then, it was time to call it a day. We strolled back to the hotel via the Opera House metro station - another easy feat. Now we're back in our rooms, recharging for another adventure tomorrow. Stay tuned for more Madrid mayhem!
