Day 8 An Arena and Aqueduct from Roman Times in Provence Our day in southern France was a delightful blend of history and relaxation. We began by exploring the bustling city of Nîmes, wandering through its charming streets and taking in the atmosphere of this historic place. Afterward, we visited the impressive arena, a testament to Roman engineering, and marveled at the thought of the gladiatorial contests that once took place there. Following our cultural immersion, we enjoyed a picnic lunch with sandwiches we had pre-ordered from a local bakery in Nîmes. We found a peaceful spot by the Gardon River near the Pont du Gard, surrounded by trees and the soothing sound of flowing water. It was the perfect place to savor our lunch and enjoy the beauty of nature, with kayakers paddling by, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. Feeling a mix of sadness and contentment, we bid farewell to this idyllic spot and headed to Barcelona. After settling in our hotel, we treated ourselves to a delightful tapas feast at a nearby restaurant, enjoying the truly local experience in a middle-class neighborhood. Laughter filled the air as we savored the delicious tapas, making it a truly memorable dinner and a perfect end to a perfect day.
