Day 4 Colosseum Conquest and Tuscan Treats Good morning from (almost!) Florence! Today was an amazing combination of ancient wonders, unexpected detours, and pure Tuscan charm. We kicked off the day by arriving bright and early at the Colosseum, and being the first ones there allowed us to take in its grandeur without the usual crowds. Our excellent guides brought the history of this iconic monument to life, transporting us back to the days of gladiatorial battles and roaring crowds. The walk through the Imperial Forum was also a stroll through Roman history, which was very invigorating. After feeling the Roman sun on our shoulders, we hopped back on the bus, ready for a well-deserved lunch break. But hold on! Our courteous driver and guide had a surprise up their sleeves. A small detour led us to the charming city of Arrezzo. Here, we stretched our legs and strolled through peaceful streets lined with beautiful shops. Friendly locals added to the picturesque atmosphere, and of course, we couldn't resist indulging in some delicious gelato! Arrezzo turned out to be a hidden gem, a delightful surprise that left us feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the Tuscan countryside. Our final destination for the day was a stunning Tuscan villa, our hotel just outside Florence. The beautiful gardens offered a tranquil oasis, the perfect antidote to a day of exploration. After a quick change, we gathered for another delectable pasta dinner at the Tennis Club next door. Some of us lingered in the picturesque gardens, enjoying the balmy Tuscan evening, while others decided to turn in for the night, ready for tomorrow's adventures in Florence. Day Three has been a perfect blend of Roman history, unexpected delights, and Tuscan hospitality. Here's to a restful night and exciting discoveries in Florence tomorrow!
