Day 3: June 26, 2024
Day 3
Vatican Victory and Roman Revelry
Good morning from Rome once again! Our second day was like something out of a Fellini film - a delightful mixture of history, art, and the vibrant Roman atmosphere. We began early by climbing the steps to the Vatican Museums. It was quite crowded, but we patiently waited and eventually managed to get in. The wait was absolutely worth it - the Sistine Chapel took our breath away! We didn't just discover Michelangelo's masterpiece; every wall in the Vatican Museums seemed to tell a story, leaving us lost in thoughts about Popes and emperors
Feeling a bit overwhelmed (in the best possible way!), we descended the steps and took a brief stroll to indulge in a classic Roman experience. The lively market was a sensory delight, and a delicious lunch at a local cafeteria rejuvenated us. Next, we headed to St. Peter's Square, which was bustling with activity after the Pope's audience. After soaking in the atmosphere, we went souvenir shopping and found some treasures to remind us of our Roman adventure.
Our group split up for some independent exploration. Some joined our guide for a tour through the ancient streets of Rome, while others chose a self-guided adventure. We met back up at the always-charming Piazza Navona (using the "Oral B guy" as our landmark!), and then boarded our comfortable bus that took us to the Roman hills. Our reward for conquering another day? A delightful pasta dinner, of course! Day Two has been another unforgettable chapter in our Roman adventure!
