Good evening from London! The group arrived safely this afternoon from their overnight flight from Toronto. We found our bus at Heathrow airport and took a drive to our hotel to make a quick pit-stop to store our luggage. It was then time for a scenic walk past the historic Wembley Stadium to the London Underground (or the 'Tube' as we Londoners call it!) the world's oldest Metropolitan railway. We rode the Tube to Waterloo and took a short walk to the banks of the river Thames. Many of the group took a spin on the London Eye wheel for amazing views of London at sunset - what a way to start the tour! Others had some free time to admire the beautiful scenery on terra firma. It was then a short Tube ride to dinner. On the menu tonight was delicious fish and chips at a wonderful family-run restaurant, followed by ice cream. We then headed to Leicester Square - the heart of London's West End - and a scenic orientation walk to Trafalgar Square. We then took some free time to visit the National Gallery, do some souvenir shopping, and soak up the London nightlife - with plenty of street performers to keep us entertained. We're now on the Tube heading back to our hotel, to check in and sleep off the jet-lag. Night night!
