Paris, Brittany & Normandy

Today was a very poignant and moving day, as we visited some of the sites relating to World War II in Normandy. First of all we went to the D-Day Museum in Arromanche, where we learnt more about the war in the area but also got to see first hand the remaining parts of the Mulberry Harbour, built to assist in landings. Then we went to the American Cemetery to pay our respects, and also visited Omaha Beach, where part of the D-Day landings took place. Very poignant. After that we visited Pointe du Hoc- a location of many German bunkers and machine gun posts. Here we learnt how brave American Soldiers scaled these cliffs, many who would never return. At the end of the day, we also went to St Malo for dinner.
