Day 18: June 20, 2019
Today again was a special day, maybe even more special than yesterday! The reason? Today is Kaylee’s 18th birthday!
At breakfast everyone was ready to wish her a happy birthday and as I brought the brownie in everyone started singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We all signed her card yesterday on the bus and as she was sitting among us. It was a bit of a challenge.
We left Dijon at 8:30am and by 12 pm we were already in Paris. We said good bye to Slavko once we arrived at the hotel, we left our suitcases at the hotel and went straight to the city centre by metro!
Our first stop was at the Louvre where we spend about three hours. Everyone was interested in seeing different things so we set up a meeting point and at 4:30 I met up with everyone at the inverted pyramid.
The Louvre is incredibly big but there’s one piece of art that no one missed, Mona Lisa, of course!
From there we walked around Île the la Cite and around the Latin quarter until dinner time. We saw what’s left of Notre Dame and although it suffered a big fire (not long ago) we could see how beautifully it is.
We wandered around for a bit and then we took the metro to Trocadero.
I wanted to take everyone so see the Eiffel Tower from where I consider the best place to do so.
I can never get enough of it, I could stare at it for hours and I am lucky enough to get to see it often.
Once there, we walked down the stairs, crossed the river towards the tower and ended up having a chilled evening on a boat along the river Seine.
We have really enjoyed our busy first day in Paris!
