Day 6: June 8, 2019
This morning at 6:45 am we were all downstairs with our suitcases ready for breakfast.
We met our driver Goran who will be with us for the next 13 days and we said good bye to a rainy Amsterdam with smiles in our faces :)
From the hotel we drove all the way to Cologne where we had the opportunity to see the amazing Cathedral.
It was built over a period of 600 years and today it possesses the largest facade in the world. During the WWII the cathedral was destroyed in one night, painfully reconstructed to its present form and it’s now one of the UNESCO World Heritage monuments.
We had a little bit of time to grab something to eat before we headed back on the coach on our way to Heidelberg.
It took us about three hours before we arrived. Heidelberg greeted us with a sunny sky.
The first thing we visited was it’s incredible castle which has amazing views of the city, from there everyone wandered around it and something no one missed was the big barrel! A barrel so big that can hold 222,000 litters and has a dance floor on top!
We walked down the hill on our way into town. The streets were busy as everyone was out and about on a Saturday.
Heidelberg cute streets are very charming, its vibe is quiet and nice. Definitely should be on everyone’s list of places to visit!
We had dinner right in town and from there we drove to our hotel where we will spend the night.
We have a few days in Germany still and I’m sure everyone will enjoy the rest of it.
