Today we had an early start, we booked breakfast for 7:15 and at 8 am we were leaving Germany behind to reach our next destination, Austria! We stopped by the city of Innsbruck, the capital of Austria’s western state of Tyrol. It’s a very popular destination for winter sports but is worth a visit anytime during the year. About 309.000 people live here. We walked to the main square and from there I pointed at the Goldenes Dachl. The golden roof. It is considered the city’s most famous landmark. The building was constructed in 1420 as the residence of the Tyrolean sovereigns and in 1500 Maximilian I added the 2738 copper tiles. From here they used to watch all the entertainment happening in the square. We also had the opportunity to visit the Swarovski world :) We wander around the city for a couple of hours before we headed towards Venice. The drive took a good 6 long hours from Innsbruck. We stopped a couple of times to stretch our legs, use the rest rooms and grab something to eat and by 20:00 we reached the hotel. We are staying near Punta Sabbioni which is about 15 minutes from the beach and very near from where we will be taking a water taxi tomorrow morning!
