Day 5: June 7, 2019
This morning we had an early start so I met everyone at breakfast at 6:45.
We had an appointment to visit Annes’s Frank house at 9:15. Anne Frank, her family, a second family and a dentist hid here for two years during the invasion of the Nazis in the Netherlands. They had to be very quiet as there was people working in the offices underneath. Two years later, in 1944, they were anonymously betrayed and discovered. She died at 17 and her father was the only one in the family to survive. Her dad found Anne’s diary and is now been published in more than 60 languages. It was a very moving morning.
From there we all walked to Dam Square and had some free time.
In the afternoon we visited a Diamond factory as this another reason why Amsterdam is famous for.
Everyone bought tones of diamonds! So expect yours when everyone gets back home!
From there we walked to the Blue Boat and cruised through the canals of Amsterdam to have a different perspective of the city. We were very lucky with the weather!
We had sour pancakes for dinner at a small traditional Dutch restaurant, some had it with ham, some with bacon and some with cheese. For desert we had mini pancakes with ice cream :)
There’s 500,000 bikes in Amsterdam alone, considering that the population is 800,000 you can imagine the amount of bikes that you can see around the city! It really is incredible! Watch out for them because they do not stop!
We have really enjoyed our time in Amsterdam, this city has definitely something for everyone!
