Day 7: March 24, 2018
Going basque......
The day started after a two hour journey into Gernika, a little basque village not far from Bilbao where we visited the Casa de Juntas, or local parliament, where the biscay bills get passed and the tree of Gernika has been planted for many centuries. We also got to see a copy of Picasso’s Gernika, painted as a symbol of the horrors of war and a hope for peace. In the afternoon we visited the Guggenheim museum, and its fabulous collection of modern art. The weather is starting to deteriorate so we had to finish the day on a bus tour around the city before returning to the hotel
