Today we have arrived to the eternal city, and the last stop on the tour - Rome! We left the hotel in Florence after breakfast and drove south to the Italian capital, making one pit stop on the way and arriving in good time. However, in actual fact the first place we go may be in Rome, but simultaneously it is in an entirely different country. It is of course the world's smallest independent state, Vatican City. We have some lunch nearby to the walls of the Vatican before meeting our official tour guide, Marco. Marco leads the group through the very busy crowds here to see the Vatican Museums as well as St Peter's Basilica and o course the beautiful Cistine Chapel. At the end of the tour we arrive into the famous Piazza San Pietro, or St Peter's Square. After buying some souvenirs we walk into the historic quarter of Rome and visit Piazza Navona, the capital's most famous square and then continue the short distance to the famous Roman temple, The Pantheon. Some of the group enjoy a visit inside while others enjoy some free time in the area. It's then a walk over the river Tiber for our dinner and then off to the hotel to check in.
