Day 5: July 2, 2023
Today was Chichicastenango day. Market day, textiles, antiques, table runners, food, animals, maize, and many Quiche people coming down from the mountains to buy or sell. For the group this was a very interesting experience and different and because they were able to interract with the local mayan people and the barganing experience was probably the best part. I guess this had not been something they had not experience in life. We got to see the historical church of Saint tomas and they history of the popol vuh in it. a book that talks about creation of the civilization the group was able to experience the moment to hear, to buy and to interact with the barganing. Our drive was a little rough because of the mountains. Our lunch was at local family house and dinner at the Guatemalan chain fried chicken restaurant Campero.
