The group left the hotel in Edinburgh early and headed to Edinburgh Waverley train station to take the train south to London. Once onboard the journey took the group across to the English border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed before heading further on through the cities of Newcastle and York before arriving into London just after noon. We transferred by coach to the group hotel in Croydon, south of the River Thames and then took the train and underground train to the Tower of London. The oldest part of the castle is the White Tower which dates back to the 11th century, built by the Normans after the invasion of 1066. There was just about enough time to have a look around at the castle, see the Crown Jewels which are stored there before exiting. The nearby Tower Bridge sits imperiously nearby situated on the River Thames. Then back by tube to Tottenham Court Road for a fish & chips supper. After dinner some of the group headed back to the hotel whilst others stayed to walk around Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square and to see London lit up at night!
