Day 2: March 29, 2024
The flight arrived more or less on schedule into London Heathrow and after collecting bags and processing through immigration, the group transferred into London to take the train from Kings Cross station to Edinburgh. On arrival in Edinburgh we then headed with our coach to Glasgow. The city of Glasgow was once the second city of the British empire with transatlantic trade of paramount importance. The architecture in the city reflects the wealth garnered by trade over the centuries and even though Glasgow has gone through more challenging times recently, it has reinvented itself as a centre of culture. After a curtailed walk through the city centripetal we then travelled on to the group accommodation near Prestwick, south west of the city. The Adamton House Hotel was built for an industrialist in the late 19th century, and has also spent time as a USAF Officers Club, before becoming a hotel. Dinner was at the hote
