The day started off sunny as we drove back towards Glasgow, skated around the city to the west and highland scenery drove over the Erskine Bridge! The road north led past the Bonny banks of Loch Lomond, the largest loch in Scotland. Passing by the loch the group found themselves in beautiful Highland scenery with occasional settlements enroute. The road took us through Glencoe, site of an infamous massacre in 1692, but hauntingly beautiful nonetheless. Lunch was taken at the nearest town, Fort William. After lunch we drove on to Aonach Mor, the site of a gondola ride up on to the mountains of the Nevis Range. Despite a large Easter queue everyone was able to get to the top of the gondola, where the green grassy slopes of the mountain transitioned to white, snowy hillsides. Thereafter it was a two hour drive onto the accommodation in Tomintoul, where the group would be staying two nights! Bags unloaded and all checked in, the group were able to have dinner in the hotel and some went out exploring after dinner!
