Buenas noches!
Last day in Madrid before departing back home in our really early flight tomorrow but in only a few hours since our flight is at 6 AM!
Most of us went this last extra day to the wonderful Retiro Park where you can spend a whole day doing different activities. Covering over 125 hectares and comprising more than 15,000 trees, El Retiro Park is a green oasis in the heart of the city. In it you’ll find all kinds of interesting monuments and gardens. In addition to its role as one of the city’s green lungs, it is also a popular spot among Madrileños who like to go there for a stroll, to do some sport, visit an exhibition or just enjoy a drink or meal in one of its restaurants. The park is home to a large artificial lake, where you can rent a rowing boat, and to the Velázquez Palace and Glass Palace which are both currently used as exhibition halls by the Reina Sofía Museum.
In the evening we went for dinner and to do our last shopping in a mall near the hotel. At the end of the day we all got together at the lobby of the hotel and shared our experiences of this beautiful tour that is about to end. We didn’t only buy souvenirs for us in Spain, but brought some from Texas for Jose and gave them to him. He loved all of them!
We are all packed and ready for our flight.
Update:
We have officially finished our tour and it all has be so much fun! We are now flying enroute back home and very tired after waking up really early to catch our plane at the Madrid airport. We have many new and wonderful memories and we have all learned a lot about this beautiful country and Spanish history and culture on this trip.
We can’t help but feel a little sad that this wonderful experience is now over, but happy that we will soon see all of our family and friends. Adios Spain! We love you! Hi USA we love you too and will be there in just a few hours!
