Day 14: July 4, 2015
Today we left the north Spain, we are going back to Madrid....
But we have to stop for lunch... again a dream city, Segovia, world famous for the 2.000-year-old, 30-meter-high Roman aqueduct and the almost Disney fairytale castle of the Alcazar, extensively rebuilt in 1862 in an exaggerated version of the 15th-century original.
We were lucky and we saw traditional dance the paloteros... amazing...
Afterwards, we continous to El Escorial, situated 50 Km northwest of Madrid and is a three part fortress/monument (a palace, a monastery and one of the best stocked libraries in the World), and it dominates the town and the neighboring region with its impressive structure covering a rectangular area of over 30,000 square meters. El Escorial has 9 towers, 9 organs, 16 patios, 73 statues, 86 sets of stairs, 88 fountains, 300 cells, 1,200 windows, more than 1,600 paintings, 2673 doors, and more besides. Its history is just as impressive.!!!!! Majestic, enormous, incredible.
And our destination, Madrid, our last night.... there is a sense of wanting to stay and of wanting to come back home...
