Day 6: April 15, 2025
Today was a truly unforgettable day for our group in Venice! We began our morning with a ride on a water taxi across the Venetian lagoon to the renowned glassblowing island of Murano. The group was able to watch a live glass blowing demonstration and were amazed by the skill and artistry of the craftsmen as well as the stunning glass designs on display.
Afterwards, we boarded the water taxi again and made our way to the heart of Venice—San Marco Square. Our guide led us through the magnificent Doge’s Palace, and we took in the grandeur of San Marco Square itself. Okay, yes it was raining and a bit cold but most of us were able to get rain ponchos and coverings for our feet. After the tour, the students had some free time to explore the area. Many made their way to the iconic Rialto Bridge, snapping photos and soaking up the unique atmosphere of the city. There was also plenty of time for shopping!
A real highlight of the day was the gondola ride through Venice’s picturesque canals. The students loved this classic Venetian experience, and it was the perfect way to see the city from a new perspective.
Although the day started with rain, the weather cleared up just in time for our free time and gondola rides—truly a stroke of luck! We ended our adventure with a water taxi and bus ride back to the hotel where everyone had dinner together
Everyone is looking forward to the next part of our European journey—Switzerland!!
