Scotland & Ireland

The group set off early and with good weather from Tomintoul headed for Fort William on the west coast of Scotland. We made good progress whilst heading through impressive Highland scenery and reached the small town of Fort William a little before lunchtime. The group had a bit of free time to explore and grab some lunch before we drove on further along the shores of Loch Linnhe and onto Glencoe. The village lies at the bottom of the Glen of the same name. Glen Coe is a stunning glen and the light and weather were ideal to give the glen a mysterious and brooding aspect. The glen is also the site of an infamous massacre of the Macdonald clan by Campbell soldiers in 1692. We made a couple of photo stops in the glen and at scenic Loch Tula on Rannoch Moor before travelling alongside Loch Lomond, the largest loch in Scotland, to the city of Glasgow! Glasgow has historically been a city of shipbuiding and transatlantic trade. Nowadays the city is known for it’s notable architecture, green spaces and art collections. After a short while exploring the city centre we headed to the group hotel in Braehead (via Milngavie) and had dinner in the hotel before catching some well-earnt rest!
