Madrid & Barcelona

Today we met Jose, our local guide, who showed us all the secrets of Barcelona. We started the day on Montjuïc, the mountain where most of the sports complexes were built for the 1992 Olympics and where you'll also find the best views of the city. Next, we headed to the Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí's masterpiece. We walked around the outside, and Jose explained each of its facades and how they hope it will look when it's finished in a few years. It's incredible to think that construction has been going on for over 100 years and it's still not finished. Imagine the volume of hard work and the countless details Gaudí planned for this project. And since Gaudí and Barcelona go hand in hand, the next thing we visited was Park Güell, another of Gaudí's great works. Honestly, I never imagined a park could have so much decoration and so many details. We returned to the city center to have lunch and then went on a scavenger hunt through the historic city center. This way, we were able to explore La Rambla, Plaza Real, the Cathedral, and the heart of the Gothic Quarter on our own. At the end, we enjoyed some free time for shopping and took the metro to go for tapas!
