Day 11: July 3, 2025
Tour Diary – July 3rd, 2025
Medieval Magic and a Flamenco Farewell
Our last full day in Spain took us beyond the capital and into the heart of Spanish tradition — and what a day it was!
We left Madrid early this morning to travel south to the enchanting city of Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich medieval history and breathtaking hilltop views. Upon arrival, we visited a traditional sword factory, where students had the chance to see how the iconic Toledo blades are still handcrafted — a fascinating mix of artistry and metallurgy.
We then enjoyed a panoramic city tour with our fantastic guide, Cristina. Though brief, this visit gave everyone a refreshing change of pace from the larger cities, and both groups expressed how much they enjoyed discovering this historical gem perched above the Tagus River.
Back in Madrid for the afternoon, students had some free time to enjoy the city at their own pace. Some returned to explore El Prado Museum, others went souvenir shopping, strolled through the parks, or simply took time to savour their last moments in the Spanish capital.
And for our grand finale? We gathered for a special dinner in a traditional restaurant — paired with a live flamenco show. The performance was vibrant, soulful, and deeply moving. For many students, this was a highlight of the entire trip: the passion of the dancers and musicians created an unforgettable emotional experience, a true window into Spanish culture.
We returned to the hotel afterward to begin packing and preparing for tomorrow’s journey home. Spirits were high, memories were shared, and the suitcases — a little heavier with gifts and souvenirs — are ready.
Warmest regards,
