San Francisco to Los Angeles: The Pacific Coast

March 26, 2015  -  April 2, 2015

Greetings from Sunny San Francisco! My name is Hannah Parsons, and I'm the Tour Director for your upcoming California Trip. Tomorrow is the big day and the Explorica team has been working hard putting together the finishing touches on what we anticipate to be a fantastic trip. Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow at the airport! See you in baggage claim :) Our day began at the airport, meeting up and beginning our California tour! Once everyone collected their bags we boarded the coach with our wonderful driver Celso and headed out. Our first stop today was the Golden Gate Bridge, widely considered one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World! The group walked the length of the bridge, 2.7 km, and even witnessed a proposal beneath the North Tower. After or bridge walk we boarded the coach and headed for Golden Gate Park, over 1000 square acres of city space, with over 15 cultural centers spread across it. The group broke for lunch here, enjoying their food outside in the warm California sun. A trip to Pier 39 was next, traveling to the waterfront by way of famous Haight Street, where the hippies of the 1960's gathered for their Summer of Love. We traveled through downtown SF, passing the headquarters of Twitter, before exploring the sights (and Sea Lion smells) of Pier 39. The students each chose a dinner option and gathered for a group picnic by the waterfront. After dinner, we left San Francisco for our comfortable hotel in the East Bay, just over the Oakland Bay Bridge, for some time in the pool and hot tub before lights out.
