Today started with a guided coach tour of Edinburgh with the lovely Sabela who took us though the New Town built in 18th century, pointing out all the old famous residents like RL Stevenson, Alexander Bell etc, and showing us all the beautiful Georgian architecture. We went for a blustery walk up Carlton Hill to admire the views across the old town and Leith and then down to Holyrood Palace and a drive round Holyrood park, home to Arthurs seat. We drove up the Royal Mile and into the old part of town where again we left the coach and had a quick glimpse into the National Museum of Scotland where Dolly the sheep now resides... and then into Greyfriars cemetery to check out all the graves with names now found in Harry Potter novels... particularly exciting seeing the grave of Tom Riddle (Voldemorte). Our tour ended in the Grassmarket and we had a bit of free time before regrouping up at the castle for our visit there. This was a self guided visit followed by more free time to shop until our ghost tour where we were led down some of the old closes off the Royal Mile all the while being fed gruesome tales from long ago. Dinner tonight was in a restaurant on route back to the hotel... steak and ale pie followed by sticky toffee pudding! Yum! Another fun day enjoyed by all.
