After breakfast today we drove through some stunning scenery to Fort Augustus spotting loads of wild life on the way... pheasants, deer, rabbits, red kites, and of course fields full of tiny lambs and highland cows! we ahd time for a little walk about this lovely village before we embarked on the Spirit of Loch Ness for our cruise of the loch. The weather was fantastic today, beautiful sunshine glinting off snow capped mountains in the distance and a thoroughly enjoyable trip on the water, all the while the sonar on the boat checking for Nessie below us!! We decided to spend a bit more time enjoying Fort Augustus after the cruise before heading off to Inverness for lunch and shopping time. People were very adventurous at lunch with native dish, cullen stink, being a popular choice! Many souvenirs were purchased! From Inverness it was a short drive to Culloden Moor. Emma gave us the history of the crushed Jacobite rebellion that happened here on 16th April..(today!!!) but back in 1746. From there it was a long drive back to our hotel in Tomintoul but we arrived just in time for dinner.
