Happy Easter! Rome wasn’t built in a day, but we tried to visit it in a day, and we did well! In the morning we walked to Piazza del Popolo (People’s Square), then to the Spanish steps. What a treat to see it with the azaleas in bloom all decorated for spring! Next we walked to the Pantheon, temple to all the Roman pagan gods, but nowadays (since the 7th century actually) it is a catholic church. In fact, many of us attended Easter mass at the Pantheon which was something quite special for us. Those who didn't attend mass had free time to explore the fun area around here. Next we saw the Trevi Fountain. Roman legend says that if you throw a coin in the fountain it ensures you’ll return to Rome. (we believe!) After a lunch break we had our guided tours of ancient Imperial Rome: this included the Roman Forums and the Colosseum. This was such a highlight. We felt like gladiators! After dinner we saw the lovely Piazza Navona, a charming square full of street artists and a great atmosphere. Finally we walked to the bus and drove to the hotel… buonanotte!
