Scotland & Ireland

Today's expedition took us south once more, back down from the rugged Highlands to Scotland's arguably "real capital", the cosmopolitan Glasgow. Along our journey, we passed by Glencoe, site of the atrocious Glencoe Massacre, wherein 38 men, women and children were slain by treachery under cover of darkness, by the Campbell clan whom they had given their hospitality to. We learned that as a result of this shocking betrayal, some establishments in the Highlands still bare signs declaring that "No Campbell's Welcome Here". Further down we pressed, maneuvering the narrow roads through the Trossach mountain range and into the small village of Lusk, where we stopped to take in the beauty of Loch Lomond, and even got to say hello to some friendly ducks who must have had their curiosity piqued by our foreign appearance. Time was of the essence as we hurtled on from Luss, at long last reaching the largest city in Scotland, Glasgow itself, a little after 6pm. With dinner on our minds, there was enough room to just about squeeze in a quick stop at George's Square and take in the impressive City Chambers, before carrying on back to our hotel, just in time for supper!
