Day 3: April 19, 2025
With both groups ready and raring to go, today was the day the tour kicked off proper, commencing with a guided coach and walking tour of Edinburgh with Sabella, who delivered a fine and funny commentary as we made our way through the bustling city centre. Afterwards we had a little bit of free time to explore for ourselves and sample some of the local cuisine, and then it was off to Edinburgh Castle, to explore the 900 year old fortification. Once we'd seen the crown jewels and prison cells and all the other various sights and wonders, we headed off to the Royal Mile once more, where we were greeted with local guides for a "ghost tour" of Edinburgh. Tales of murder most foul, haunted alleyways, and gravedigging regaled us throughout our sojourn through the narrow streets and alleyways as we braced ourselves against the bite of the fierce spring wind. Finally we were off to dinner, and it doesn't get more Scottish than the traditional Bangers & Mash from the Caley Sample room, which were wolfed down with great enthusiasm.
