Day 11: April 1, 2019
Good morning everyone.
Lots of rain during the night but this morning the sun is out and a rainbow just outside the hotel.
We get a transfer to the Reef Fleet Terminal and straight onto the Ocean Spirit, the Catamaran that takes us to the Great Barrier Reef.
We arrive at 10.30 near Michaelmas Cay. After some safety instructions, and briefing of how to use the snorkelling equipment, we are ready to get a transfer with the beach buggy to the Cay. But before this we wanted to discover the underwater world inside the Semi Submarine. Off we went on a 30-minute tour where Chris our guide gave us lots of information about the Reef.
Back on deck guess what, we were hungry! The buffet was set up and we eat from the delicious hot and cold buffet.
After that, tummy full, nothing stopped us from getting the Beach Buggy transfer to the Cay and off into the warm ocean. Snorkelling as much as we could, we had to get back on the boat around 2 pm, as the vessel needed to get ready for the journey back to Cairns.
This is the time, after having coffee, tea, cake and fruits to relax and take in every ray of sunshine we can catch.
Back on shore the bus is waiting to take us back to the hotel. Quick shower to get ready to hit the town. We are going to the night markets.
We are on our own for dinner but its easy to find a meal or snack at the night markets.
What a beautiful day.
Tomorrow we can sleep in a little longer.
We will leave the hotel at 8.15 to go on croc tour to the Hartley’s creek croc farm.
