Day 1: June 9, 2012
Welcome Menlo School! Are you ready to have an adventure? Get ready because you will see some of the most beautiful sights you will ever see in your lifetime! You will always remember with great fondness the year you went to America's Canyonlands. On this trip you can expect to see great stone monoliths like the one you see in the picture, taken at Zion National Park. You will also be stunned and for a moment speechless as you gaze upon the work of a very famous river when we visit the Grand Canyon. And you will be delighted by the wonderland of colors at Bryce Canyon.
The pictures I chose highlight only some of the beauty of you will see as we wander through this magnificent country. I've even included one from my earliest days visiting the area. From that photo, you will be able to see how long I have been visiting this area! The other photo of me is from earlier this year. Finally, there is a photo called "Angel's Window", taken from a trail on the rim of the Grand Canyon.
I am so excited to be able to show you some of the most beautiful sites in the world.
So, - ready --get set--let's go!
Day 1: Welcome Menlo School!
The Tour Director met us at the airport and showed us to the coach where we met our driver, Al! Al is wonderful! He is knowledgable, friendly, and a really safe driver! He took us to the Outlet Mall, where we got a bite to eat, after we took a long walk, to stretch our legs after the flight. Once we were done eating, we went to a place called the Lost City Museum, where we learned that a group of Pueblan peoples, sometimes known as "Anasazi", built a pueblo or city, which was lost beneath the sand, and finally uncovered as the waters of Lake Mead began to erode some of the material. Next, we stopped at the St.George (Utah!) Mormon Temple. We were met by Sister Ty, who showed us the temple, and shared with us some interesting facts about the Mormon history. We were soon on our way, because by that time, we were hungry again! We ate a great restaurant, called DUB's. Most of us had Smoky Ribs, Pork, or Brisket, but a few of us had very lovely salads and sweet potato fries! After that, we were tired, and went to our motel. But there wasas a pool! So we swam, and then went to bed. Whew! Fun day!
