Day 2: May 14, 2019
After a good nights sleep and the big breakfast we left for Lexington and Concord to meet Step On Guides who led us through the 24 hour period starting basically with the midnight ride of Paul Revere but with great detail. Along the route we saw Louisa May Alcott‘s Orchard House and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s home. Our Step On guide also pointed out Nathaniel Hawthorne’s last residence. We were also given great detail about the actual conflict both at Lexington and at Concord. Then we went to Salem and had lunch. We ended our visit to Salem with a visit to the Witch Museum for a theatrical presentations about that hysteria. Then we made a quick stop at the Salem wharf area to see the famous Custom House where Nathaniel Hawthorne worked as a clerk and also view the ship, The Friendship, which was moored along side the old dock. We followed this with a trip to Boston to see the Red Sox game and grab a quick bite at the game. At 10 o’clock we are on route to our hotel. It was a wonderful very full day arriving at the hotel at about 1045 pm.
